Xinjiang is well known for its wonderful and rare natural scenery with Glacier existing side by side with Flaming Mountains, and desert neighboring Oasis. The places of historical interest along the Silk Road, colorful ethnic customs and cultural arts form the mystical experience of Xinjiang tourism. Besides, the XPCC flows with rich tourism resources of unique cultural connotation, such as the Army Reclamation Culture, sightseeing of agriculture and unique poplar forest in natural ecological state, which attracted quite a few foreign tourists every year. Now there are 93 travel agencies (4 international travel services and 89 domestic travel services), 40 star-rated hotels and 30 scenic spots in the XPCC. In 2006, they hosted 3.57 million tourists, increased by 56.9 %, 141.9 thousand of which were international tourists, up 75.3 %; 3.5 million were domestic tourists, up 60 %.
